Luiz Paulo Dourado Freire began his musical training in the "Music for Children" outreach project at the University of Brasília, directed by Ricardo Dourado Freire and Sandra Ferraz.

He began his violin studies using the Suzuki Method under the guidance of Luiza Volpini, continuing with Marena Salles and Daniel Cunha; during this period, he was selected to participate in the 84th Interlochen Arts Camp in the United States, where he studied with Yuri Namkung. At sixteen, he entered the Bachelor of Music program at the University of Brasília, studying under Dr. Nadia Nedialkova. After transferring to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, he earned his undergraduate degree in the violin studio of Dr. Fredi Gerling. During his undergraduate studies, he served as concertmaster and soloist with the symphony orchestras of both universities.

Luiz completed a master's program in violin and viola performance at the University of New Mexico (USA), under the guidance of violinist Dr. Carmelo de los Santos and violist Prof. Kimberly Fredenburgh. He was awarded a graduate assistantship to join the Abe Franck String Quartet, in which he served as first violinist. During the same period, he was selected as concertmaster of the University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and performed as a violinist and violist with the New Mexico Philharmonic, the Santa Fe Symphony, and the New Music New Mexico Contemporary Ensemble. While in the United States, Luiz won prizes in competitions such as 3rd place in the Jackie McGehee Young Artists Contest and 1st place in the UNM String Concerto Competition; he was also a laureate and Audience Choice Award winner at the UNM Summer Music Institute’s Solo Competition. In 2019, he received a fellowship to attend the Montecito International Music Festival, where he was selected to perform a chamber music recital with Karen Dreyfus and Sergiu Schwartz. Luiz has participated in masterclasses led by prominent figures in the international music scene, including the Kronos Quartet, Arditti Quartet, and Casals Quartet, as well as Mimi Zweig, Martin Beaver, Ole Bohn, Leon Spierer, Stoika Milanova, Walter Verdehr, Gabriel Marin, and Emmanuele Baldini.

As an educator, Luiz earned a Master’s degree in String Pedagogy from the University of New Mexico, studying under Megan Holland and Suzuki Teacher Trainer Susan Kempter. While in the United States, he served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate violin and viola classes and the university's outreach program. He also maintained a private violin studio and taught individual lessons and orchestra classes at Wilson Middle School, Van Buren Middle School, and Highland High School.

He completed training and professional development in the Suzuki Method with Edward Kreitman and Shinobu Saito, as well as in complementary approaches—such as those of Paul Rolland and Simon Fischer—with Fredi Gerling, Cármelo de Los Santos, and Kimberly Fredenburgh. In Porto Alegre, Luiz taught violin at Casa da Música and the Instituto Popular de Arte e Educação; he currently teaches violin at the Centro Suzuki de Brasília and serves as the pedagogical coordinator for the MiFáSol-Lá Children's Music Center.
